Elmete Elderberries
A Place to Meet Do and Enjoy
Who we are.
Elderberries is a friendly third-age group combatting loneliness and social isolation. We are local people who want to meet others; do something together; have a bit of company and fun every Monday afternoon between 1pm and 3pm in the church. We run all year round, except bank holidays and Christmas.
What we do.
We provide a safe, warm, and friendly space for people of all ages abilities, and disabilities. It is an informal group run entirely on donations and by volunteers. About 50-60 people attend each week, to chat or take part in one of the activities, which include: folk singing, card-making, art, music, crafts, knitting crochet and textiles, book exchange, chair-based exercise, games jigsaws and dominoes, and genealogy. Tea and biscuits are always available. We will give you a warm welcome, and then it is up to you whether you would like to try any of the activities on offer.
What does it cost?
Nothing! We value you more than your cash!
But, we give you the opportunity to make a totally voluntary contribution whenever you are able. All our group leaders give their time and talents freely. The church only asks us to pay for heat and light if we have something left in the kitty.
