St Philip's Church Building is closed

Updated  06/01/2021

With the start of the third national lockdown on Wednesday 6 January, the clergy, churchwardens and Parochial Church Councils of the Elmete Trinity Benefice churches have decided to close the churches again for public worship. Barwick and Scholes churches have also decided to close for private prayer; Thorner church will continue to be open for private prayer.

The decision has been a difficult one, as we know how much people value worshipping communally in the church buildings. But with the virulent new strain of coronavirus spreading so rapidly and the NHS under even greater pressure than in spring 2020, we feel the most responsible course of action is to heed the government’s guidance about leaving home only when absolutely essential and to revert to providing services online and by phone. We will review the situation in early February.

During this lockdown, we will offer a range of online and telephone support (see below). We know that some people are not confident with IT and new software. If you would welcome some support with accessing these online resources, please contact the Benefice PA on elmettrinitypa@gmail.com and we’ll try to put together some information sheets.

If you are in need of practical assistance with shopping, etc, or you know someone who is, please contact "Your Scholes" (0113 289 2437 / 07512 314312), to request help.

Finally, please contact Rev. Andy or Rev. Bob if you feel in need of spiritual or emotional support and we will do what we can to help.
