Reopening St Philip’s: the Current Position

Following a meeting of the PCC on Monday 22 June 2020, it has been agreed that St Philip's Church will not, at present, reopen for private prayer or Sunday services.  

St. Peter's Church, Thorner will be open for private prayer from 6th July on Mondays from 10am - 12 noon and Thursdays from 4-6pm.


All Saints Church, Barwick will be open for private prayer from 4th July on Saturdays from 10am – 12 noon and Wednesdays from 2-4pm. This will be by appointment only.

In the meantime, we have an abundance of services and events that people can access both on-and off-line, and I would encourage you to engage fully with what is being offered.  Below is a list of all the things we are doing and if you don’t know how to access each please explore our website or you can email Rev. Online services and events:

  • Weekly online video services that go live at 10:15 with some reflective music every Sunday morning, followed by a zoom coffee and chat. (See the Church Online Sunday Service page or search for our Youtube channel ‘Elmete Trinity Benefice’)

  • Daily video reflections every weekday on the Church Online Daily Reflections page.

  • Weekly ‘Storytime with Debbie’ Bible video stories on the Family Prayer page.

  • Monthly ‘Messy Church’ live video services on the first Tuesday of the month available on our Messy Church page.

  • Monthly ‘Dad’s Club’ zoom on the 2nd Saturday of each month. See our Children and Young People page.

  • Weekly zoom prayer meeting on Thursday mornings.

  • Weekly Pathfinders every Friday between 8-9pm. (for young people aged 11+). See our Children and Young People page.

  • ‘Singing with Matt Singalong’ on Sundays at 4pm (accessed through the St Philip’s Facebook page)

  • Regular emails with prayer requests and answers.

  • Occasional zoom quizzes.
